Wireless Setup - macOS
To be able to use your printer wirelessly on a Mac®, the printer must first be connected to the wireless network. Then, software needs to be installed on the computer. The instructions / screenshots below show the setup program steps when using the cableless setup method to connect to the wireless network.
The setup process consists of 2 parts:

Starting the cableless setup process on the printer, and
-
Downloading and running the setup file to install the software.
Start Cableless setup on the printer
Prior to starting setup on the computer, start the cableless setup method on the printer. Then complete the setup on the computer.
See the procedure below to start the cableless setup method.

Press and hold the Wi-Fi button (A) on the printer until the ON lamp (B) flashes.

Press the Color button (C) then the Wi-Fi button (A).

Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp (D) flashes quickly and the ON lamp is lit.
Download and run the setup file.*
Get the Setup File
After downloading the setup file, double-click the Master Setup icon.
If you see a message similar to the one below, select Open.

Select Next on the first screen.
Enter your user name and password in the fields provided then select Install Helper.

Select Start Setup.

Select Next.
The screen below will appear. Select Allow.
The installer will acquire information on the latest software. This may take a few minutes.

Read the license agreement. Select Yes to proceed. If you select No, the installation will not proceed.

Select Agree or Do Not Agree to the information request.

After processing for a few moments, the installer will ask you to confirm that you want to connect the printer to your wireless router. Select Connect.

The computer will communicate with the printer. Please wait.
Enter your user name and password when prompted, then select Allow.
After a few moments, the connection will be completed. Select Next.
If your printer is not detected, make sure that the computer has reconnected to the correct network. Also, you may need to temporarily disable any firewall software, or you may need to open blocked ports in the firewall. If your Mac is connected to a VPN (Virtual Private Network), temporarily disconnect from the VPN and try the setup again. The installer will download and install the drivers and IJ Scan Utility.

When this screen appears, select Add Printer.

Select your printer series with Canon IJ Network listed in the Kind column. Make sure the printer name is displayed next to Use: and click Add.

Select Next.

Select Next.

Click Start to print a test page. Otherwise, click Next to proceed.

Select Next to proceed.

If you would like to install the user manual for your printer, make sure its box is checked, then select Next.
The manual will be downloaded and installed.

Choose Skip or Next on the User Registration screen.

Click Exit.
