This article shows how to set up the PIXMA TS3700 series for use on a wireless network using the Easy Wireless Connect process.

Solution

Easy Wireless Connect

  1. Press and hold the Wireless connect button (A) on the printer, and then release the button when  Direct icon(B) flashes.

  2. Make sure  Network status icon and the horizontal bars (C) flash as shown in the illustration below.

When the printer is in Easy Wireless Connect mode, proceed with the setup based on the computer or mobile device you are using.

Windows

Download and run the setup file.*

Get the Setup File

After downloading the setup file, open it. If you're prompted to provide permission to open the file, select Open or the appropriate affirmative option.

  1. Select your language, then click OK.

  2. Select your place of residence, then click OK.

  3. Select Start Setup.

    The installer will check for the latest information related to your printer.

  4. Read the license agreement. Select Yes to proceed.  If you select No, the installation will not proceed.

  5. Select Agree or Do Not Agree to the information request.

    This message appears if you selected Do not agree. Click OK to proceed.

  6. After processing for a few moments, the installer will display the following message. Select Next.

    The installer will search for the printer.

  7. The installer will ask you to confirm that you want to connect the printer to your wireless router. Select Connect.

  8. The computer will communicate with the printer. Please wait.

    After a few moments, the connection will be completed.

     If your printer is not detected, make sure that the computer has reconnected to the correct network. Also, you may need to temporarily disable any firewall software, or you may need to open blocked ports in the firewall. If your PC is connected to a VPN (Virtual Private Network), temporarily disconnect from the VPN and try the setup again.

  9. The installer will download the software and drivers.

    Click Add Printer (outlined in red)

  10. The printer will be registered into your computer. Please wait.

  11. You will be prompted to keep the printer's firmware up to date. Select Yes or No. If you select Yes, the printer must be connected to a wireless network with internet access.

  12. The following screen will appear. Select Next.

     If desired, select Test Print to print a test page.

    Click Next (outlined in red) to proceed

  13. Select Go to Website. The installer will close.

macOS

Download and run Canon Inkjet Smart Connect.

After downloading the file, drag the the Canon Inkjet Smart Connect icon to the Applications folder.

Master Setup icon

Open the Applications folder on your computer, then open Canon Inkjet Smart Connect.

When you first open Canon Inkjet Smart Connect, select Do not agree or Agree to continue.

When this screen appears, select Set Up Now.

Enter your user name and password in the fields provided then select Install Helper.

  1. Select Start Setup on the first screen.

    The installer will check for the latest information related to your printer.

  2. Select Agree or Do Not Agree to the information request.

    This message appears if you selected Do not agree. Click OK to proceed.

  3. After processing for a few moments, the installer will display the following message. Select Next.

    Click Yes (outlined in red) to proceed

     You may see the message below. If you see this, select Allow.

    The installer will search for the printer.

  4. Your printer and the last five characters of its serial number will be shown. Select Connect.

    You may see the following message. If so, click OK.

  5. If prompted, enter your user name and password for your computer, then select Allow.

    After a few moments, the printer will be connected to the network.

    The installer will download software, then process for a few moments.

  6. When the Add Printer screen appears, select Add Printer.

  7. Select your printer from the list. Make sure it says Canon XXXX Series for Use, then click Add.

  8. Select Next.

  9. When the following screen appears, select Next.

     If desired, select Test Print to print a test page.

  10. Select Go to Website. The installer will close.

Android

You can use the Canon PRINT app to easily set up a wireless connection so you can print from an Android™ device.

Follow the steps below.

  1. Start the Canon PRINT app. If you don't have the app, download it from Google Play.
  2. Upon opening the app for the first time, you'll see a License Agreement. Read the terms and tap Agree to continue. If you tap Do not agree, you won't be able to use this app.

  3. The For using services related to Canon product screen will appear. Read this information, then tap Agree or Do not agree.

  4. The following screen will appear. Tap OK to proceed.

  5. When asked to allow the app to access your device's location, tap While using the app or the appropriate affirmative option.

  6. When the screen below appears, tap Search.

     If you see this message, do not tap Yes or No. Tapping Yes will start the process over. Tapping No will cause the app to indicate that it is still searching for a printer.

  7. Tap Next when this message appears.

  8. You'll be prompted to connect directly to the printer. Tap Connect or the appropriate affirmative option.

    Note Depending on the model, it may be named Canon_ij_setup or it may have the name of the printer, such as Canon_ij_xxxxx_GX7000series.

     If you tap Cancel, you'll be prompted to manually connect to the printer. If you see this screen, tap Open Wi-Fi Settings, then select the printer's network name and return to the app.

  9. A message appears saying the printer will connect to your wireless network.  Make sure your network name appears in this message, then tap Yes.

    Note If your printer is too far away from your router, your Android device may try and fail to connect and you won't see the screen shown below. In this case, turn off the printer, move it closer to your router, and restart the process.

    Confirmation message: The printer will be connected to the following wireless router.. Select Yes to continue.

  10. Enter the password for your wireless router. Tap the eye symbol to check the password entry to be sure it's correct, then tap OK.

    Note If the process fails at this stage, you may need to restart the process and connect your Android device to the Canon_ij_XXXX SSID. Set your printer to Easy Wireless Connect mode, connect to the Canon_ij_XXXX SSID, and start again from step 1.

    Enter password screen. Tap OK when network password has been entered.

    The app will send your network information to the printer. Please wait.

    Communicating with the printer

     At this point, your device will communicate with the printer, which will be automatically added. However, in some instances, you may need to manually add the printer. Proceed to the next step if the Register Printer screen appears.

  11. If the Register Printer screen appears, wait for your printer to appear on the screen, then tap it.

    The app will acquire information on your printer.

  12. Tap Close.

  13. Wireless connection is complete. Tap Select images to start using the application or tap the to exit.

     You may see a prompt similar to the following.

    If you want this app to save your network name and password to make it easier to reconnect this printer, or to add a new one, make sure the Save box is checked, then tap OK.

How to Rename the Printer (Optional)

  1. On the main screen, tap the Add/Switch icon.

  2. Tap and hold the printer you want to rename. An on-screen keyboard will appear. Enter a new name for the printer, then tap OK.

  3. Tap the Home icon at the bottom of the screen. The printer will show the new name you entered.

iOS / iPadOS

Canon PRINT is a free application that allows iPad®, iPhone® or iPod® touch users to enjoy a variety of PIXMA, MAXIFY and SELPHY print capabilities. 

This app allows you to set up a wireless capable printer on the network via Easy Wireless Connect. To use this setup, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the Apple Store® to download Canon PRINT. 
  2. Open the Canon PRINT app.
  3. When you first open the app, a message titled For using services related to Canon product appears. Read the information and tap Agree or Do not agree. You will be able to use the app regardless of which option you select.
  4. If asked whether you want to allow this app to access your location, tap Allow While Using App.
  5. When this message appears, tap Allow.

  6. Tap Search.

    The phone will begin searching for printers.

  8. When the following message appears, tap No, or wait for a few moments.

  9. You'll be asked to join the printer's Wi-Fi connection. When prompted, tap Join.

     This message may appear on top of the message shown in step 9. You may not need to tap No in step 9 before this message appears.

     If you have used this app to set up another printer on your network, you may see a prompt similar to this one:

    To connect to the network saved in Canon PRINT, tap Yes and proceed to step 12. To specify the network to connect to, tap No and proceed to the next step.

  10. A list of networks appears. Tap on the name of your network.

     If your printer is too far away from your router, your device may attempt to establish a direct connection with the printer. If this happens, turn off the printer and move it closer to your router. Then, restart this process from step 3.

  11. If your network has a password on it, enter that password then tap OK. You can tap the Show password box to display the password as or after you type it in.

  12. The password for your wireless network is sent to the printer.

  13. Tap Close when this message appears.

  14. Tap Select images to choose a picture to print.

     If you don't want to print, tap the X at the upper right.

     After finishing the wireless setup, you may see a prompt similar to the following. If you want to save the network information in Canon PRINT to make it easy to reconnect this printer in the future, or to add a new printer, make sure the Save box is checked, then tap OK.

     If this is your first time using the app, you will be asked to allow PRINT to use your location. Tap Allow While Using App.

  15. If this is your first time to print from the app, you may be prompted to allow access to your photos. Tap OK.

  16. You'll have the option to print images stored on your device, import images from Canon Camera Connect, or images stored on cloud services. In this example, images stored on the device will be used. Tap Smartphone.

  17. The images stored on your device are shown. You can select up to 20 images. Tap on the image(s) you want to print, then tap Add.

    You can select images stored in specific albums on your device by tapping Albums, then selecting the album and images.

     You can tap Show Selected to view the image(s) you selected for printing. You can swipe through the image(s), and if you don't want to print an image, you can either tap the check mark on the image, or tap Deselect All. Tap Done when finished.

  18. You'll return to the Photo Locations screen. Tap Next.

  19. Tap Print settings to change any of the settings listed on the screen (number of copies, paper size, etc.), then tap Print.

Change the printer name

If you already registered your printer with Canon PRINT and would like to change its name, follow the steps below.

  1. From the main screen of Canon PRINT app, tap the Add/Switch icon at the bottom.

  2. Tap and hold the name of the registered printer in the list.

    Tap and hold the name of the printer you want to rename (outlined in red)

  3. When prompted, enter a name you would like to use for the printer, then tap OK.

  4. After you tap OK, tap Back at the upper left corner.

  5. The printer appears in Canon PRINT with the name you specified.

ChromeOS

You can use the Canon PRINT app to easily set up a wireless connection so you can print from a ChromeOS device.

  1. If you have not already done so, start Easy Wireless Connect on your printer.

  2. Start the Canon PRINT app. If you don't have the app, download it from Google Play.

  3. Upon opening the app for the first time, you'll see a License Agreement. Read the terms and tap or click Agree to continue. If you tap or click Do not agree, you won't be able to use this app.

  7. When this message appears, tap or click Next.

  9. When the screen below appears, tap or click Search.

     If you see this message, do not tap or click Yes or No. Tapping or clicking Yes will start the process over. Tapping or clicking No will cause the app to indicate that it is still searching for a printer.
