In this mode, you set the desired aperture and the camera sets the shutter speed automatically to suit the subject brightness. This is called aperture-priority AE.
A larger aperture (lower f/number) will result in a blurred background ideal for portraits. The lower the f/number, the more blurred the background will become. If a smaller aperture (larger f/number) is used, the foreground and background will be in focus. The higher the f/ number, the clearer the focus will be for near and far subjects.
