Setting the Date/Time

The Set Date/Time menu will appear when the camera is first turned on or the date battery has run down. If the initial date/time setting is skipped, or if it needs to be reset, this can be done in the setup menu.


Setting the Date/Time (First Time Settings)

The Set Date/Time menu will appear when the camera is first turned on or the date battery has run down. If the camera is not prompting you to set the date/time, but you would like to set it, see the procedure for Setting the Date/Time from the Menu.

1.  Open the lens cover, and set the mode dial to .
  • When the first time the camera power is turned on or whenever the built-in rechargeable lithium battery charge is low, the Date/Time settings screen appears. Start from Step 2.
2.  Select the item you wish to set using the or button and set its value using the or button on the multi control dial ().
  • Settings can be made by turning the multi control dial.

3.  Check that the date and time display correctly, press the <FUNC./SET> button ().


  • The date/time settings may be lost after approximately three weeks if you remove the main battery. Reset the date/time settings if this occurs.


  Charging the Date/Time Battery
  • The camera has a built-in rechargeable lithium battery that maintains the date, time and other camera settings. This battery recharges when the main battery pack is inserted into the camera. When you first purchase the camera, place a charged battery pack in it or use the AC Adapter Kit ACK-DC20 (sold separately) for at least 4 hours to charge the date/time battery. It will charge even when the camera power is set to Off.
  • If the Set Date/Time menu appears when the camera power is turned on, it means that the date/time battery charge is depleted. Recharge it as described above.

Setting the Date/Time from the Menu

1.  Turn on the camera.

2.  Press the <MENU> button and select the (Set Up) tab using the button.

3.  Select [Date/Time] using the button, and press the <FUNC./SET> button.

4.  Rotate the omni-selector (clockwise = up) or use the or button () to select the month, day, year, hour (military time), minutes, layout ([mm/dd/yy] or [yy/mm/dd]) and whether daylight savings time is used (illuminated = on).  Press the after each item is set.
5.  Press the <FUNC./SET> button when finished.


Setting the World Clock

Switching to the Destination Time Zone

When traveling abroad or around the country, you can record images with local dates and times simply by switching the time zone setting if you pre-register the destination time zones. You can enjoy the convenience of not having to switch the Date/Time settings. It is necessary to first set the home time zone.

1.  Turn on the camera

2.  Press the <MENU> button and select the (Set Up) tab using the button.

3.  Select [Time Zone] in the [ (Set up)] menu using the   button, and press the <FUNC./SET> button.
4.  With the or button, select (Home), and then press the <FUNC./ SET> button.
5.  With the or button, select a home time zone from the map, and then press the <FUNC./SET> button.
  • You can select a home time zone by turning the multi control dial.
  • The select area time is taken as the shooting time.
  • To make the correction for daylight saving time, use the  or button to display the daylight saving time icon (). The current time is advanced one hour.

6.  Use the or button to select (World), press the <FUNC./SET> button, and then select a destination time zone as same as step 5.

Switching to the Destination Time Zone

  1. On the [ (Setup)] menu, select [Time Zone] and then press the <FUNC./SET> button.

  2. Use the or button to select (World), and then press the <MENU> button.

    You can modify the destination time zone with the <FUNC./SET> button.

  • If you do not select a home time zone beforehand, you cannot configure the destination time.


  • Changing the time of the destination time zone's date/time will automatically change the home time zone's data/time.
