Solution

Self-Timer PowerShot A610 & A620 & A700

You can set a 10 sec. () or 2 sec. () delay, or a custom delay time and the number of shots (Custom Timer), for shooting after the shutter button is pressed. You can take pictures with the self-timer in any Shooting mode.

  1. Turn on the camera, and set the mode switch to .

  2. Press the <FUNC./SET> button.

  3. Select * (Drive Mode) using the or button.


    * The current setting is displayed.

  4. Select , , or using the or button.

    - When is selected, the shutter release will be delayed for 10 seconds. 2 seconds before the shutter releases, the self-timer sound and lamp will speed up.

    - When is selected, the self-timer sound will play when the shutter button is pressed and the shutter will release 2 seconds later.

    - When is selected, pressing the <MENU> button will allow you to set the start time (0 to 10, 15, 20, or 30 seconds) and the number of shots (1 to 10 shots). Select the setting item using the or button and change its value using the or button. Press the <MENU> button when complete. These settings cannot be set for , and modes.



  5. Press the <FUNC./SET> button to exit the Function menu.

  6. Shoot the image.
    -
    When the shutter button is pressed fully, the self-timer lamp will blink. When using red-eye reduction, the self-timer lamp will blink and then stay lit for the last 2 seconds.
  • When is selected, the self-timer lamp will blink during shots, and self-timer sounds will sound as follows.
    • If you set multiple shots to be taken, the self-timer will sound only for the first shot.
    • The self-timer will not sound when set to [0 sec.]
    • The self-timer will not sound when set to [1 sec.], but the beeps will sound.
    • When the self-timer is set between 2 to 30 sec., the camera will beep, and then the self-timer sound will sound 2 seconds before the shutter activates.


  • You can change the self-timer sound by changing the setting in [Selftimer Sound] in the [ (My Camera)] menu.
  • When is selected, and the number of [shot] is set to two or more:
    • the interval between shots may lengthen if the memory is full.
    • the interval between shots will lengthen to accommodate the flash recharge time if the flash is to be used.
