Selecting a Special Scene Shooting Mode

You can take an optimal picture simply by selecting the appropriate shooting mode.

  1. Turn the Mode Dial to SCN (Special Scene). Depending on the shooting mode selected will determine which still image shooting modes are available.
  2. When the camera Mode Select dial is set to SCN (Special Scene Mode) press the FUNC./SET button () for more options.
  3. Use the or buttons () to select a Shooting Mode. You can shoot right after selecting an option. The menu displays again after the shot, allowing you to change the settings easily.

  4. Press the <FUNC./SET> button () to confirm the setting you wish to use.

    • The display will return to the shooting screen and the icon of the selected shooting mode will appear on the LCD monitor.

Night Scene*

Use this to take snapshots of people against twilight or night backgrounds to reduce the effects of camera shake even without using a tripod.

Foliage*

Shoots trees and leaves - such as new growth, autumn leaves or blossoms - in vivid colors.

Snow*

Shoots without a blue tinge and without making people appear dark against a snowy background.

Beach*

Shoots without making people appear dark near water or sand where reflected sunlight is strong.

Fireworks*

Captures fireworks in the sky sharply and at optimal exposure.

UnderWater*

Appropriate for shooting images with Waterproof Case WPDC8 (sold separately). This mode uses an optimal white balance setting to reduce bluish tones and record images with a natural hue.

* Available as Special Scene Modes when using the SCN option selectable on the Mode Select dial.
