Solution

Adjusting the Exposure - PowerShot A630 & A640

Adjust the exposure compensation setting to avoid making the subject too dark when it is backlit or shot against a bright background or to avoid making lights appear too bright in night shots.

This function is not available in or mode.



  1. Turn on the camera and set the mode switch to .

  2. Press the <DISP.> button to turn on the LCD monitor (if necessary).
  3. Press the button several times until the exposure compensation bar is displayed.



  4. Use the or button to adjust the exposure compensation and press the button.
    -
    Depending on the shooting mode, pressing the button will switch between the setting items as follows:
SCN SCN mode/Exposure compensation
Tv Shutter speed/Exposure compensation
Av Aperture value/Exposure compensation

To cancel the exposure compensation, return the setting to using the or button.


  • Exposure compensation is not available in the or My Colors mode.
