Description

This article explains how to update the firmware using the Remote UI for your PIXMA TS3720 / TS3722.

Solution

This procedure will not work if you are using the printer in Wireless Direct mode. If you are using the printer in this mode, the Firmware Update option will not be shown in the Remote UI.

Follow the steps below to update the firmware for your PIXMA TS3720 / TS3722.
  1. Open the Remote UI for your printer. To do this, print a Network Configuration Page and enter the IP Address shown on line 3-2-12 in a web browser.

  2. Select Log in.

Click Log in (outlined in red)

If you see the following message, select OK.

    Click OK (outlined in red)

  3. When prompted, enter in the administrator password for your printer. The default password for the printer can be found in line 1-4 of the Network Configuration Page.

    Select OK.

    Click OK (outlined in red)

Select OK after entering the password.

  4. The main menu of the Remote UI will appear. Select Firmware update.

Click Firmware update (outlined in red)

  5. On the right side of the Remote UI, some options will appear. Select Install update.

    Click OK (outlined in red)

  6. The printer wll communicate with Canon's server and search for a newer firmware version. If the printer has the latest firmware version, select OK.

    Click OK (outlined in red)

If a firmware update is available, you will be asked if you want to install the update. Select Update to begin the update procedure. This may take a few minutes.

The printer will turn itself off. You may lose connection to the Remote UI at this time.

When the printer is updating its firmware, the LCD will be off. The POWER lamp will flash. Do not press any buttons or unplug the printer during the firmware update process. If power to the printer is lost, this may damage the printer.

  7. When the update procedure has finished, the printer will power on automatically. After the printer is on, print out the network configuration page (also known as LAN details page). Open the Remote UI again and log in.

  8. You will see a message indicating that the firmware update succeeded.

Selecting OK will take you back to the main menu of the Remote UI.
