Solution

To eliminate the possibility that the problem might be related to permissions, try creating a new admin account:

  1. Click on the [Apple] icon.

  2. Click [System Preferences].

  3. Click [Accounts] (the first icon under System).

  4. If this screen is locked (the padlock icon in the bottom left of the screen is closed), click on the padlock icon to unlock the screen.

Note: When you click on the padlock icon, you will be prompted to provide your password.

  5. Click on [+] located directly above the padlock icon (in the lower left corner of the window) and create a new administrator account.

  6. Log in to the new account you just created and try printing again.

If this resolved your printing problems, then the permissions of your original account need to be repaired. You can run the [Disk Utility] app located in [Utilities] to repair the disk permissions.
