Use MP Navigator for more advanced copy setting options - MP210 (Windows)

Description

It is recommended to use MP Navigator for copying if the basic setting options on the operation panel does not provide you the best print results.

Solution



Scanning Photos and Documents

Scan documents such as photographs and text on the platen.

  1. On the Windows desktop, double-click the 'MP Navigator EX' icon.

    1. Alternatively, on the Windows taskbar, click 'Start'.

    2. Point to (All) Programs, Canon Utilities, then 'MP Navigator EX' folder.

    3. Then Click on 'MP Navigator EX'.

The MP Navigator EX navigation mode screen or one-click mode screen opens.

When the one-click mode screen has opened, click the (Switch Mode) button to switch to the navigation mode screen.

Note:
If the Show this window at startup checkbox is not selected, the last used screen opens.
You can complete scanning to saving, etc. all at one time by clicking the corresponding icon on the one-click mode screen. See the section below for details.


  1. Point to Scan/Import and click 'Photos/Documents (Platen)'.



  2. Place the document face-down on the platen, and select the appropriate Document Type.
    Refer to the table below.

Color Photo

Allow 3/8 inches (1 cm) or more space between the edges of the platen and the document.

Black and White Photo

Color Document

Align a corner of the document with the corner at the arrow of the platen.

Black and White Document

Magazine(Color)

Text(OCR)

Note:
When you select Color Photo or Black and White Photo, the position or size of the image may not be scanned correctly if you do not leave 3/8 inches (1 cm) or more space between the edges of the platen and the document.
When you select Magazine(Color), the Descreen function will be enabled and scanning takes longer than usual. To reset the Descreen function, disable Descreen in the Scan Settings dialog box.
Select Text(OCR) to convert hand-written text or image data of printed text to text data with OCR software.

  1. Click 'Specify' and set the preferences as required.
    The Scan Settings Dialog Box opens. Specify the Document Size and Scanning Resolution.

  2. Click 'Scan'.
    Scanning starts.

  3. When scanning is completed, the Scan Complete dialog box opens. Select 'Scan' or 'Exit'. Select Scan to scan the next document, or select Exit to end.
    When scanning is completed, the scanned image appears in the Thumbnail List area.



  4. Edit the scanned image as required.

    When there are multiple images, first select images to edit. (Selected images are outlined in orange.)
    Use edit tools to rotate images, select a part of an image, etc.

    Note: Drag the mouse or use Shift + arrow keys to select multiple images. (An orange frame appears around the selected image.)

  1. Click 'Save' or 'Save as PDF' file.

  2. Specify the following settings as required:

When Save is selected:
The Save dialog box opens. Specify the destination folder, file name and file type.

Note:
You cannot select JPEG/Exif when Document Type is Text(OCR).
The default folder is MP Navigator EX in the Pictures folder (Windows Vista) or in the My Pictures folder (Windows XP and Windows 2000).

When Save as PDF file is selected:
The Save as PDF file dialog box opens. Specify the file type, file name and destination folder.



Select from the following PDF file types:

PDF

When multiple images are selected, each image is saved as a separate PDF file.

PDF(Multiple Pages)

Multiple images are saved in one PDF file.

PDF(Add Page)

Selected images are added to a specified PDF file. The images are added to the end of the PDF file. You cannot rearrange pages of the PDF file to which images are added.

Note: You can select only PDF files created with MP Navigator EX, MP Navigator or CanoScan Toolbox. You cannot select PDF files created with other applications. PDF files edited in other applications cannot be selected as well.

Note:
PDF(Multiple Pages) is displayed when multiple images are selected.
The default folder is MP Navigator EX in the Pictures folder (Windows Vista) or in the My Pictures folder (Windows XP and Windows 2000).

  1. Click 'Save'.
    Scanned images are saved according to the settings.

  2. To print the scanned images, click 'Open saved location' in the Save Complete dialog box. The saved images appear in the View & Use screen.

View & Use

You can print multiple scanned images at one time, print at specific quality, etc. using MP Navigator EX.

  1. From the navigation mode screen, point to View & Use tab and select from the following items: 'My Box', 'Specify Folder' and 'Recently Saved Images'.


    1. Alternatively, after an image has been scanned in, click 'View & Use' tab while on the Scan/Import tab.


    2. If you are not sure where the image file was scanned into, click 'Specify Folder', 'Recently Saved Images' and 'Search' and then browse to the appropriate folder.



      Note: You will have to open the sub-folders within MP Navigator EX, from My Documents.

  2. On the right-hand pane, place a check beside the file you'd like to print. A check will appear inside the check box.

  3. Click 'Print' and then select 'Print Document' or 'Print Photo' dependent on the saved scanned file.



Print Document:

Specify print settings as required.

  1. In the displayed dialog box, specify print count, quality, scale, etc.

    Note: At 100% Normal-size, some images may be printed small or with some portions cropped. In that case, select Auto to resize the print in proportion to the paper size.
  2. Click 'Print'.

Print Photo:

Selecting Print Photo or Print Album will launch Easy-PhotoPrint EX if it is installed.

  1. In the displayed dialog box, specify the print direction, number of copies and other settings.
  2. Click 'Print'.
