Cannot Find Printer from Smartphone/Tablet while Using Bluetooth

If you cannot find the printer from your smartphone/tablet, it is possible that your smartphone/tablet cannot communicate with the printer.

Note

  1. Check1 If you are using an Android smartphone/tablet, check the Androidversion of your smartphone/tablet.

Make sure the Android version of your smartphone/tablet is not between 5.0 and 4.4.

To check the version, refer to your device’s instruction manual.

  2. Check2 Make sure the printer is turned on.

  3. Check3 Make sure the printer is configured to use Bluetooth connection.

Check the setting from the operation panel following the procedure below.

    1. Check that printer is turned on.

    2. Select  (Setup) icon.

    3. Select  Device settings.

    4. Select Bluetooth settings.

    5. Select Enable/disable Bluetooth.

    6. Make sure Enable is selected.

If Disable is selected, select Enable.

  4. Check4 Make sure your smartphone/tablet is configured to use Bluetoothconnection.

Make sure the Bluetooth function is enabled on your smartphone/tablet.

To check whether the Bluetooth function is enabled, refer to your device’s instruction manual.

  5. Check5 Is the printer connected to another device via Bluetooth?

You can connect only one device to the printer via Bluetooth at the same time.

If another device is connected to the printer, wait for a while or cycle the power switch, and then connect the device again from the top screen of Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY.

  6. Check6 Is the printer operation in progress?

You cannot use Bluetooth connection while the printer setup or printing/scanning is in progress.

Wait until the setup or printing/scanning is complete.

  7. Check7 Make sure the setting to turn on the printer automatically is enabled.

If the setting is disabled, you may not use the Bluetooth function of the printer.

Enable the setting to turn on the printer automatically.

  8. Check8 If you are using an Android smartphone/tablet, make sure you do not select another printer on Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY.

If you select another printer on Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY, you fail in pairing even though you select the printer properly on the Bluetooth setting screen of the Android device.

Return to the top screen of Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY and select the printer properly.

  9. Check9 Make sure you do not change the Bluetooth device name on the printer.

The printer name may be displayed on the printer list of Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY by the previous name even though you change the Bluetooth device name on the printer.

If the printer name is displayed on the list by the previous name, select it instead of the current name.

  10. Check10 Is only part of the printer’s device name displayed on Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY?

If you change the printer’s device name on the Bluetooth device name setting menu on the printer, only the initial part of the device name may be displayed on Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY.

In this case, select the device name whose initial part matches the current name.

  11. Check11 Did you cancel the Bluetooth pairing on the printer?

The Bluetooth pairing is canceled if you remove histories of Bluetooth connection on the Bluetoothsetting screen of the printer or reset printer settings.

Use Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY to perform settings and retry pairing.

If the checking items above do not solve the problem

Disable Bluetooth function on your smartphone/tablet and enable it again, or restart your smartphone/tablet.
