Description

Uninstalling / reinstalling the PIXMA MP drivers on a Windows computer.

Solution

Uninstall and Reinstall the Driver

If the MP Navigator or the MP drivers are no longer required, or if they are not installed correctly, uninstall them.

Caution: Uninstalling means deleting software, such as MP drivers, from the computer. Once the software has been deleted the unit cannot be used through the computer until the software has been reinstalled.

Note: Login as a user with Administrator privileges to uninstall on Windows 7 / Windows Vista/ Windows XP. Turn off any programs running in the background, such as antivirus programs and firewalls before begining.

  1. Start the uninstaller
    • If you are using Windows 7 / Windows Vista, select the Start menu -> All Programs -> "Your model name" -> MP Drivers Uninstaller.
    • If you are using Windows XP, select the Start menu -> All Programs -> "Your model name" -> MP Drivers Uninstaller.

      The MP Drivers Uninstaller dialog box is displayed.

      Important:
      In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, a confirmation / warning dialog box may appear when starting, installing or uninstalling software.
      This dialog box appears when administrative rights are required to perform a task.
      When you are logged on to an administrator account, click Yes (or Continue, Allow) to continue.
      Some applications require an administrator account to continue. When you are logged on to a standard account, switch to an administrator account, and restart the operation from the beginning.

  2. Execute the uninstaller
    1. Click Execute.
    2. When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.

  3. When all the files have been deleted, click Complete.
    The deletion of the MP Drivers is complete.

    Important: Printer driver and scanner driver (ScanGear) will be deleted when you uninstall the MP Drivers.

- When There is No Uninstaller

When there is no uninstaller in the Start menu of Windows 7 or Windows Vista, follow these steps:

  1. Select the printer to be deleted.
    • If you are using Windows 7, select the Start menu -> Devices and Printers.
      Click the model to delete, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. On the File menu, click Remove device.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, select the Start menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Printers.
      Click the model to delete, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. On the File menu, click Delete.

  2. Delete the printer.
    • If you are using Windows 7, when the confirmation message appears, click Yes. Then when the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Yes.
      The icon is deleted.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, when the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Continue. Then when the confirmation message appears, click Yes.
      The icon is deleted.

  3. Select the printer driver to be deleted
    • If you are using Windows 7, click any icon in Printers and Faxes.

      On the command bar, click Print server properties, and then click the Drivers tab. If the Change Driver Settings button is displayed, click that button.
      When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Yes.
      In the Installed printer drivers list, click the printer to delete.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, press the Alt key. On the File menu, select Run as administrator, and then click Server Properties.
      When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Continue.
      Click the Drivers tab. In the Installed printer drivers list, click the printer to delete.

  4. Delete the printer driver.

    When you click Remove, Remove Driver And Package dialog box is displayed.
    Select Remove driver and driver package, and then click OK.
    In the confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
    When data collection is completed in the Remove Driver Package dialog box, click Delete.

  5. Click OK.
    The deletion of the printer driver is complete.

    Important: You may not be able to delete the printer driver properly from the Installed printer drivers list.
    If this happens, restart your computer, and then try again.

  6. Reinstall the drivers.

Reinstall the Drivers

Note:

  • The MP drivers can be installed using Easy Install or Custom Install.
    Easy Install automatically installs the software which is in the CD-ROM.
    This method is recommended for first-time users.
    Custom Install allows you to select the software programs from MP Drivers, Application Software, and On-screen Manual.
  • Login as a user with Administrator privileges to install on WindowsXP/2000/Vista.
  • Close any antivirus software that may be running prior to installing the drivers.


Windows

If you connect the machine via USB cable before installing the software:

On Windows 7

  1. Remove the USB cable connected to your computer.
  2. Click here to proceed to step 1.

On Windows Vista / Windows XP

This dialog box may appear.

  1. Remove the USB cable connected to your computer.

  2. If the dialog box closes, click here to proceed to step 1.

  3. Click 'Cancel'.

  4. Click here to proceed to step 1.

Easy-WebPrint EX:

Easy-WebPrint EX is Web print software that is installed on the computer when installing the supplied software. Internet Explorer 7 or later is required to use this software. An Internet connection is required for installation.

  1. Press the ON button (A) to TURN OFF THE MACHINE.
    Operating noise may continue for up to 40 seconds until the machine turns off.

    Important: Do NOT connect the USB cable to the computer and the machine yet. If you have already connected the cable, disconnect it now.



  2. Turn on the computer, then insert the Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
    The setup program starts automatically.

    Note: If the program does not start automatically, double-click the CD-ROM icon in Computer or My Computer. When the CD-ROM contents appear, double-click MSETUP4.EXE.



  3. Click Run Msetup4.exe on the AutoPlay screen, then click Yes or Continue on the User Account Control dialog box.

    If the User Account Control dialog box reappears in following steps, click Yes or Continue.



  4. Click Easy Install.
    The drivers, application software, and on-screen manuals are installed.

    Note: If you want to select particular items to install, click Custom Install.



  5. Click Install.



  6. Select Use the printer via USB, then click Next.



    Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.

    Important Information for the Installation

    USB Port



    When the Printer Connection screen appears, connect the machine to the computer with a USB cable.
    The USB Port is located on the right side of the machine.

    Note: The supplied wireless LAN setup cable can be used as well.


    Necessary Information for the User

    Registration



    When the serial number is not displayed on the registration screen automatically, input the serial number located inside the machine (as shown in the illustration).

    Important: If the power is on, the FINE Cartridge Holder will move when the Scanning Unit (Cover) (B) is opened.


    If the Extended Survey Program screen appears



    If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree.
    If you click Do not agree, the Extended Survey Program will not be installed. (This has no effect on the machine's functionality.)

  7. Click Exit to complete the installation.



  8. Solution Menu EX starts.

  9. Remove the Setup CD-ROM and keep it in a safe place.

    Note: The buttons displayed on Solution Menu EX may vary depending on the country or region of purchase.
