How to use Night Scene Mode

Solution

Night Scene Mode

This mode is for taking pictures of people at twilight or at night.

The flash illuminates the subject while a slow sync speed obtains a natural-looking exposure of the background

Turn the Command Dial to <>
  • The picture-taking procedure is the same as with the FULL AUTO mode
  • This automatically set the AF mode to <ONE SHOT> and the film advance to <SINGLE FRAME> and the metering mode to <EVALUATIVE>
  • To prevent camera shake, using a tripod is recommended
  • If you want to photograph only a night scene (without people), use the landscape mode instead
  • Tell the subject to keep still even after the flash fires
  • If you use the self-timer in this mode, the red-eye reduction lamp will flash when the exposure is completed
  • The Night Scene mode can be used even while an EOS-dedicated Speedlite is attached to the camera
  • If the Night Scene mode is set in daylight, it will function in the same way as the FULL AUTO mode
  • Using ISO 400 or faster film is recommended
