Solution

Install the printer driver using the prepackaged CD (Mac OS X)

To enable printing, it is necessary to copy (install) the printer driver to the hard disk of the computer. Screenshots for Mac OS X v.10.3.x are used in the following procedures.

Note:

  • When Mac OS X is shared by multiple users (accounts), first log in as an Administrator.
  • If anti-virus software or system-resident programs have been installed in the computer, close them before installing the drivers and applications.
  • Do not remove and re-insert the USB cable during the following procedures as this may cause the Macintosh computer or the printer to operate improperly:
    • While Mac OS is launching after the printer is powered on
    • During printer driver installation
    • During printing
  1. Connect the printer to the computer with the USB cable. Confirm that the printer is powered on.

  2. Turn the computer on to start Mac OS X.

  3. Insert the setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the folder in the CD-ROM does not open automatically, double-click the CANON BJ icon on the desktop.

  4. Double-click the Setup icon.

  5. When the following window is displayed, enter the administrator name and password, and click 'OK'.

Note: Click the "A" icon to display the Help files.

  6. The printer driver installation can be performed using either Easy Install or Custom Install methods.
Easy Install enables the automatic installation of the printer driver, application software, utilities, and on-screen manual. Click 'Easy Install' for this option.

To install the printer driver, application software, and on-screen manual only, click 'Custom Install' and select the appropriate items.

  7. Click Install.

  8. When the License Agreement window is displayed, read it carefully and click 'Yes'. Clicking 'No' will cause installation to end.

Installation may take several minutes to complete. Please wait. If a message requesting action for installation is displayed, follow the directions on the screen to continue the installation.

  9. Installation starts.

  10. Click 'Next'.

  11. Click 'Restart'.

  12. Installing the printer driver using the prepackaged CD-ROM is completed.

Note: If the installation is not successfully completed, re-install the software
