Solution

Scan to Email

Save the captured image data in the specified folder. You can also save it as a PDF file

  1. Lift the document cover.

  2. Load your document. Place your document face down on the Platen Glass. Align the upper left corner of your document with the alignment mark on the lower right corner of the Platen Glass.



    NOTE: The machine cannot scan the area within approximately 1/8 in. (3 mm) of the front and right edges of the Platen Glass.

  3. Gently close the document cover.



  4. On the Windows desktop, double-click 'MP Navigator 1.1'.
    1. Alternatively, on the Windows taskbar, click 'Start', point to '(All) Programs', 'Canon', then 'MP Navigator 1.1'.
    2. Then click 'MP Navigator 1.1'.
      MP Navigator opens.



  5. Click 'Scan Photo/Document'.
    The below MP Navigator window will appear.



  6. Make setting changes such as Document Type or Specify. To scan multiple documents from the platen glass, Continuous Scan must be selected.

    Document Type (drop-down arrow)
    Select the document type to scan.
    Select a document type to be scanned from Color Photo, Black and White Photo, Color Document, Black and White Document and Text (OCR).

    Specify (button)
    Change advanced settings for scanning such as Document Type, Document Size, Scanning Resolution, Reduce moire and Enhance contours.

    Continuous (check box)
    Check this to scan multiple documents continuously.

  7. After making the setting changes, click 'Scan'. The scanned image will appear in the preview area.



  8. Click 'Attach to E-mail'.
    The following dialog box will appear.



  9. Change the settings as required.


  10. Click 'OK'.

    The attached file will be created and saved with the settings and the e-mail program starts.


  11. Specify the recipient, then enter a subject and the e-mail message.

    See the manual of your e-mail software program for e-mail settings.

Mail Program
The e-mail program set up on the Preferences screen of the main menu will be displayed. Specify your e-mail application.

Adjust attachment file size
Checking this setting allows you to change the size of the file to be attached. You can select the file size of the image to be attached with [Size].

You can select this setting when [Files of type] is [JPEG].

Save in
Display the destination folder to save the attached image. To change the destination, click [Browse] and specify the destination folder. If the image file to be attached is resized, the resized image file is saved.

By default, folders are created and named with the current date (for example, ?Mail_20041001?) under the [MP Navigator] folder in the [My Pictures] (Windows 98: [My Documents]) folder.

File name
Enter the file name of the image to be attached up to 32 characters long. When saving multiple files, 4 digits are appended to the file name.

Files of type
Select thee file type of the image to be attached from JPEG, PDF and Multi Page PDF.

* Files of type is displayed when an image is scanned with Scan Photo/Document.

* You cannot send an image of 5105 pixels or more in a horizontal direction as an e-mail attachment.

* Multi Page PDF is displayed when multiple images are selected.
