Solution

Manually aligning the Print Head - MP760

When automatic alignment fails or does not work well, align the print head position manually.

  1. Load A4- or letter-size plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF) Cassette.

  2. Select the appropriate paper source by pressing the <Feed Switch> button.

  3. In either Copy, Photo, or Film menu screen, use <Left cursor> or <Right cursor> to select <Maintenance/Setting>, then press <OK>.

  4. Use <Left cursor> or <Right cursor> to select <Maintenance> and press <OK>.

  5. Use <Upper cursor> or <Lower cursor> to select <Manual Head Align>.

  6. Select <Yes>, then press <OK>. A horizontal pattern is printed.

  7. Beginning from column A on the printout, enter checkmarks in the patterns that have the most solid image.



    (1): Bad example (Least solid box)
    (2): Good example (Most solid box)

  8. Use <Left cursor> or <Right cursor> to select the pattern number that you checked in column A on the printout in step 7.

  9. Press <OK>.

  10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 to adjust columns B to L.

  11. Press <Left cursor>. A vertical pattern is printed.

  12. Beginning from column M on the printout, enter checkmarks in the patterns that have the most solid image.


    (1): Bad example (Least solid box)
    (2): Good example (Most solid box)

  13. Use <Left cursor> or <Right cursor> to select the pattern number that you checked in column M on the printout in step 12.

  14. Press <OK>

  15. Repeat steps 13 and 14 to adjust column N.
