Verify Ink and Paper Settings
There can be several possible reasons why the print quality is not meeting your expectations.
The ink is out or the print head nozzles are clogged
Perform the print head cleaning procedure as detailed in your printer's documentation and try printing again. If are colors are missing from the print or text is broken or faded after cleaning the print head, you may need to replace an ink tank or the entire ink cartridge.
The paper (media) type setting may not match the paper you are using
The printer driver has the ability to match the printed output to the specific type of paper you are using. Make sure that the Media type setting in the printer properties is the same as the paper loaded in the printer.
For optimum results, Canon recommends the use of genuine Canon brand media and inks with your printer. Canon supplies and accessories can be purchased online here or by calling 1-800-385-2155 to speak to a Canon eStore representative.
The resolution of the image you are printing may be low
If the resolution of the original image is low or you are enlarging the original image, the resulting printout may not be sharp.
