When the serial number is not displayed automatically, input the serial number located inside the machine.
Solution
Locate the Serial Number
The serial number of the PIXMA MP280 is located inside the printer, as shown below.
Make sure that the power is turned on, and open the Paper Output Tray.
Lift the Scanning Unit (Cover) (A), then hold it open with the Scanning Unit Support.
Wait until the printer carriage moves to the center position and then locate the serial number, which is on a label that is adhered to a metal plate on the right-side of the ink cartridge holder. It starts with four letters and ends with five numbers. Example: ABCD12345
