CD Installation fails to start
If the installation doesn't start after inserting the Setup CD into your computer's CD drive, follow these steps:
- Open the start menu for your version of Windows:

In Windows 7 or Windows Vista - Select Start, then Computer.

In Windows XP - Select Start, then My Computer.

Double-click on the CD icon in the window that displays.

If the contents of the CD display, double-click on MSETUP4.EXE.
If the CD icon doesn't display, remove the CD from your computer, reinsert it, and restart your computer.
If the CD icon still doesn't display, try another CD to see if it runs / displays. If another CD displays, there is a problem with the Setup CD. Download the printer driver.
Unable to get past the Printer Connection screen or the printer isn't detected:
Make sure the USB cable is securely connected to the USB port on both the printer and computer. Then follow the procedure below to reinstall the printer driver.

Select Cancel.

Select Start Over on the Installation Failure screen.

Select Back on the screen that appears.

Select Exit on the "PIXMA XXX" screen (where "XXX" is your printer's name), then remove the CD.

Turn the printer OFF.

Restart the computer.

Make sure you don't have any application software running.

Insert the CD again, then perform Easy Install to install the printer driver.
In other cases

Follow the procedure described in your setup manual for installation.

If the driver doesn't install correctly, uninstall the printer driver, restart your computer, then reinstall the driver.
- If you reinstall the driver, perform Custom Install on the Setup CD, then select IJ Printer Driver.
If the installer stops due to a Windows error, the system may be in an unstable condition and you may not be able to install the driver. Restart your computer before reinstalling.
