Auto Scan detects the type of item you place on the scanning surface, so you can quickly complete a scan.
There are a few things to know before you start a scan.
Before you begin
The following items may not scan correctly. In that case, adjust the cropping frames (scan areas) in the image view of ScanGear, and scan again.

Photos with a whitish background.

Items printed on white paper, hand-written text, business cards, and other unclear items.

Thin items.

Thick items.

Complete a scan

Make sure the scanner / printer is turned ON.

Place the item to scan on the glass surface. If you need help, refer to position originals to scan.

Start the IJ Scan Utility.

Select Auto. Scanning starts. To cancel the scan, select Cancel.
Locate your scanned image in the file you designate for scans. Use the Settings (Auto Scan) dialog box to set where to save your scanned images or to make advanced scan settings.
