Before Starting
Make sure that your printer is connected to a wireless router that has access to the Internet. You can confirm this by printing the network information.
If the printer is not connected to a wireless router, it will need to be connected before you can perform a firmware update from the operation panel.
You can use a Windows PC, a Mac, an iOS / iPadOS device, or an Android device to connect the printer to a wireless network.
You can also use the printer's operation panel to connect to a wireless router.
Steps to Update the Firmware
Occasionally, firmware updates for your printer are provided. These updates improve printer security and print quality. To update the firmware of your printer from the operation panel, follow these steps.

With the printer powered on, press the Setup button.

In the Setup menu, press the button until Device settings appears. Press the OK button.

In Device settings, press the button until Firmware update appears. Press the OK button.

Install update will appear on the LCD. Press the OK button.
The printer will search for an available firmware update.

If a firmware update is available, you will be asked if you want to update the firmware. Use the buttons to select Yes, press the OK button, then follow the instructions on the screen.
Don't turn off or unplug the printer while the firmware update is in progress.
If the firmware on your printer is up to date, a message will scroll on the LCD that indicates that the latest firmware version is installed. Press the OK button.
