This model is supported for direct connection downloads of still images using the applications built into OS 10.1 and up
To download video via the 4 pin DV/HDV (IEEE-1394) terminal no additional drivers are needed as the drivers are built into OS 10.1 and up. Video editing may be performed by using a variety of 3rd party programs that are available from various software vendors including Apple iMovie.
Note for Optura 500, 600, and 60 users: Downloading video via USB is not supported. To download video using these models please connect the camcorder via the DV (IEEE-1394) terminal to an available IEEE-1394 terminal on your computer using a commercially available IEEE-1394 cable.
Canon has completed initial testing of Canon digital video cameras and has found that all digital video camera models that support PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) for still image downloads via USB may be used with OS 10.1 and up using Apple Image Capture or iPhoto. No additional drivers are needed. For custom camera settings a supported version of Canon ImageBrowser is required. The models and applications supported in Mac OS10.1 and up can be viewed on that models download page linked below.
To download Mac OS 10.1 and up compatible application updates please visit the Canon Download Library and select your model. From your models page select the Drivers/Software tab which will detail the available software applications that may be available for your product using the operating systems supported by Canon.
*Note: Still images cannot be downloaded via the DV/HDV terminal.
The following Canon digital video camera models are not PTP compatible and will require a 3rd party card reader to copy still images onto the computer.
