Situations where the Image Stabilizer is not effective
EF100-400mm F4.5-5.6L IS USM
The image stabilizer should be 0 (OFF) in the following situations. If the switch is 1 (ON), the image stabilizer may not operate correctly.
- Shots using a tripod
- Bulb (time exposure) shots
- In MODE 1: panning shots where there is considerable camera movement.
- In MODE 1: shots from vehicles, where there is considerable motion.
- In MODE 2: shots other than panning shots.
The image stabilizer does not operate for self-timer shots using the EOS 50/50E/ELAN Il/ELAN IIE, EOS IX and IX Lite/IX 7.
All the power for the lens is provided by your EOS camera. If the image stabilizer function is applied for about 10 seconds in each frame, the normal shooting capacity of the camera will be reduced by approximately 30%.
The image stabilizer does not operate with the manual-focus EF-M camera.
