Description
Solution
If an error message is displayed on the LCD, take the corresponding action described in the chart below.
In addition, the following button pushes are valid when an operator call error occurs:
- ON button: To turn the printer off and on again.
- OK button: To clear and recover from an error. In some operator call errors, the error will automatically be cleared when the cause of the error is eliminated, and pressing the OK button may not be necessary.
- Stop button: To cancel the job at error occurrence, and to clear the error.

The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly, or the Cartridge may not be compatible with this machine. Open the Scanning Unit (Cover) and install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. Installing / Replacing FINE Cartridge(s) If the error is not resolved, the FINE Cartridge may be damaged. |
Check ink U075/U076 |
Make sure that each FINE Cartridge is installed in the correct position. |
Check ink U140 |
The FINE Cartridge may not be compatible with this machine. Install the FINE Cartridge compatible with this machine. |
Check ink U150 |
The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly. Open the Scanning Unit (Cover) and install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. |
Check ink U162 |
The ink may have run out. The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled since the ink level cannot be correctly detected. If you want to continue printing without this function, press the machine's Stop button for at least 5 seconds. Canon recommends to use new genuine Canon cartridges in order to obtain optimum qualities. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by continuation of printing under the ink out condition. Note

Check ink U163 |
The ink has run out. Replace the ink cartridge and close the Scanning Unit (Cover). Installing / Replacing FINE Cartridge(s) If printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, press the machine's Stop button for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out condition. The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled. Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately after printing. The resulting print quality is not satisfactory, if printing is continued under the ink out condition. Note

Some errors occurred while copying and a certain time passed. Press the OK button to dismiss the error, and try to copy again. |

Failed to scan the head alignment sheet Press [OK] |
Scanning the print head alignment sheet has failed. Press the OK button to dismiss the error, then take the actions described below.
If the error is not resolved, connect the machine to the computer and align the Print Head on the printer driver. |
Unsupported USB hub Remove hub |
If a PictBridge compliant device is connected via a USB hub, remove the hub and connect it directly to the machine. |
Printer error has occurred Contact service center B200 |
You may be able to recover from this error by changing the ink cartridges. |

"****" is displayed in the alphanumeric character and depends on the error occurred. For example: 5B00, 6800, 5700, etc.

The document is jammed in the ADF. Remove the document page jammed in the ADF, then press the OK button. Operate again after resolving the error. |

No document in the ADF. Press the OK button to resolve the error, then operate again after loading documents. |
Close the feeder cover [OK] ->Eject the document |
Documents remain in the ADF. Press the OK button to eject documents and press the Stop button to stop ejecting. |
Document too long Press [OK] |
The document is too long or is jammed in the ADF. Remove the document page jammed in the ADF, then press the OK button. After resolving the error, make sure that the document you are loading meets the machine's requirements before redoing the operation. |
Check page size Press [OK] | Paper other than A4, Letter, or Legal-sized paper or 8.5 x 14 inches paper is loaded. Load A4, Letter, or Legal-sized paper or 8.5 x 14 inches paper. |

You opened the Scanning Unit (Cover) during an operation. Return the Scanning Unit (Cover) to its original position. |

If paper has jammed in the machine, clear the jam, reload the paper in the machine correctly and then press the OK button. |
Data error
Press [OK] |
A power failure has occurred or the power cord has been unplugged when the faxes are stored in the machine's memory.

Auto redial |
The machine is waiting to redial the recipient's number because the line was busy or the recipient did not answer when you tried to send a document. Wait for the machine to automatically redial the number. If you want to cancel automatic redialing, wait until the machine starts dialing the number, then press the Stop button. You can also delete the document from memory to cancel automatic redialing. |
Hang up phone |
The handset is not placed in the handset cradle correctly. |
Try again in black & white |
The recipient's fax machine is not color-compatible. |
No tone detected |
The telephone line cable with a modular plug may not be plugged in properly. |
Received in memory |
If the machine receives a fax under one of the following conditions, the machine will not be able to print the received fax and will store it in its memory. When the problem is resolved as described, the fax stored in memory is printed automatically.

The page size setting is set to a size other than A4, Letter-, or Legal-size. Set Page size to A4, 8.5"x11"(LTR), or Legal (or 8.5"x14") and Media type to Plain paper to print received faxes.

Transmission has been canceled because the machine could not detect the recipient's fax machine information or the information did not match the dialed number. This message is displayed when Check RX fax info is set to ON. |
Reception rejected |
Reception has been rejected because the fax matches the fax rejection condition specified by Fax reception reject. |
Waiting for report output... |
If the machine receives a fax under one of the following conditions, the machine will not be able to print the reports. When the problem is resolved as described, the reports are printed automatically.
