Solution

Editing Movies

You can delete unwanted portions from the first or second half of a movie clip.

1. Select the movie you wish to edit and press the <SET> button.

2. Select (Edit) using the left or right arrow on the omni selector and press the <SET> button.

The movie editing panel and the movie editing bar appear.

  • (Exit): Back to the screen in Step 1
  • (Print): Movies can be printed via direct printing.
    (This icon appears only when a printer is connected)
  • (Play): Starts playback of movies and sound
  • (Slow Playback): During slow playback, playback speed can be changed by . speeds up and slows down.
    Selectable speeds are one frame/second and about one twentieth, one seventh, one third and normal speed (with some variation depending on frame rate).
    The audio cannot be played in slow motion playback.
  • (First Frame): Shows the first frame
  • (Next Frame): Fast forwards if the <SET> button is held down
  • (Previous Frame): Rewinds if the <SET> button is held down
  • (Last Frame): Shows the last frame
  • (Edit): Edits the movie

3. Select an editing method using the up or down arrows.

  • : Deletes frames in the first half of the movie
  • : Deletes frames in the second half of the movie
  • : Reverts to the movie replay panel

4. Select the range you wish to edit using the left or right arrows.

5. Select [(play)] using the up or down arrows and press the <SET> button.

  • The temporarily edited movie will start playing.
  • The movie will stop if you press the <SET> button while it is playing.

6. Select [(Save)] using the up or down arrows.

When is selected, the edited movie is not saved and the camera reverts to replay.

7. Select [Overwrite] or [New File] using the left or right arrows.

  • [Overwrite] : Saves the edited movie under the same name as the original movie. The original data is deleted.
  • [New File] : Saves the edited movie under a new file name. The original data is not deleted.
  • When there is not enough space left on the memory card, only the overwrite function is available. If this happens, a small appears on the counter of the movie editing bar.

  • Protected movies cannot be edited.
  • It may take some time to save an edited movie. If the batteries run out of charge partway through, edited movie clips cannot be saved. When editing movies, use fully charged NiMH batteries or the optional AC Adapter Kit ACK700.
  • Movies recorded at 640 x 480 or 320 x 240 pixels (30 f/s) and with the video signal set to the PAL format may play back with a frame rate lower than the recorded rate when output to a TV or video. You can play every frame by using the slow motion playback. To check the images at the original frame rate, you are recommended to play the movie back on the camera's LCD monitor or on a computer.
  • Movies shot with other cameras may not play back on this camera.

  • Movies with an original length of 1 second or more can be edited in 1-frame units.
  • The minimum length for movie clips is 1 second.
  • You may experience frame dropping and audio breakup when playing back a movie on a computer with insufficient system resources.
  • Please adjust the audio sound level on the TV when viewing movie files on a TV.
