How to unlock the scanner

CanoScan N650U, N656U, N1220U

1. Remove the document cover by lifting it straight up and off the scanner body.
2. Using a coin or another appropriate device, turn the locking screw 90 degrees clockwise until it points to the "unlocked" symbol.
3. Replace the document cover by inserting its hinge brackets into the slots on the scanner, taking care to insert them from directly above the slots.
To lock the carriage reverse step two (2) above.
The carriage should always be in the locked position when the scanner is being moved. An error results if you try to scan while the scanning unit is locked.
1. Turn unit over so the bottom of the scanner can be viewed.
2. On the front bottom of the unit, slide the lock/unlock switch toward the "unlocked" symbol.
3. Turn the scanner right side up.
To lock the carriage reverse step two (2) above.
The carriage should always be in the locked position when the scanner is being moved. An error results if you try to scan while the scanning unit is locked.
1. Turn unit over so the bottom of the scanner can be viewed.
2. On back bottom side of the unit, slide the lock/unlock switch toward the unlocked symbol.
3. Turn the scanner right side up.

1. Unplug the document cover from the Option/FAU socket on the back of the scanner.
2. Remove the document cover by lifting it straight up and off the scanner body.
3. Slide the lock/unlock switch toward the "unlock" symbol.
4. Replace the document cover.
5. Plug the document cover into the Option/FAU socket on the back of the scanner
