Cleaning the Printhead
If your prints appear faint, this could mean that dust and paper dust have clogged the print head.
Clean the print head to clear clogged nozzles.
Select light, medium, or strong cleaning according to the printing result.
Light Cleaning |

Note:
- During cleaning is in process, do not perform any other operation.
- Cleaning cannot be done during a print job or when an error is occurring.
- If strong cleaning fails to solve the problem, the print head may require replacement, or there could
be some other problem. Contact your place of purchase.
- Please remember that cleaning consumes ink. Clean the print head only when necessary.
This section describes how to perform print head cleaning from the [Utility] tab.
1 Open the printer driver setup window
2 Click the [Utility] tab and click [Light Cleaning], [Medium Cleaning] or [Strong Cleaning].
A confirmation message appears.
3 Confirm the displayed message and then click [Yes].
Cleaning starts.
Cleaning the Printhead during Printing
You can stop printing temporarily to carry out cleaning.
Important
• The [Utility] tab is not available while the printer pauses.
1 Press the Pause key.
2. Select [Light Cleaning] or [Strong Cleaning] from the [Cleaning] menu on the status monitor.
Cleaning starts.
