If you adjust the setting to prevent paper abrasion, it will widen the clearance between the print head and the loaded paper.
Manage paper abrasion settings from your printer
- To enable the prevent paper abrasion function, press the Maintenance button repeatedly until the LED screen displays this symbol: , then press the Black button.
- To disable the prevent paper abrasion function, press the Maintenance button repeatedly until the LED screen displays this symbol: , then press the Color button.

Windows: Open the printer driver setup window, and in Custom Settings in the Maintenance sheet, select the Prevent paper abrasion checkbox, then select OK.

Mac®: In the Canon IJ Printer Utility, select Custom Settings from the drop-down, select the Prevent paper abrasion checkbox, then select Apply.

Print speed may slow if you apply the setting to prevent paper abrasion setting.

When you finish a print task, it's good to disable the prevent paper abrasion setting so it's not applied to all further print jobs.
