Perform a Print Head Deep Cleaning (Mac OS X)
In the Apple menu select System Preferences
Note:In versions of Mac OS X older than 10.4, open the IJ / BJ Printer Utility from the Library>Printers>Canon>BJPrinter>Utilities folder.
Open Print & Fax.
Make sure the correct printer is selected and, depending on OS version, click 'Open Print Queue...' or 'Print Queue...'.
Click the Utility icon.
Select the printer, then click 'Maintenance'.
Select 'Cleaning' from the drop-down menu.
Click the Deep Cleaning icon.
Select the color(s) of the print head to perform deep cleaning, and click 'OK'.
Note: Print Head Deep Cleaning consumes more ink than normal cleaning. Take care when selecting the color(s) of the print head to avoid excess ink consumption.
To perform deep cleaning of the black and color print head, check 'All Colors'.
To perform deep cleaning of the black print head only, deselect the 'All Colors' check box and check 'Black.'
To perform deep cleaning of the color print head only, deselect the 'All Colors' check box and check 'Color.'
Confirm the message below and click 'OK'. The power lamp will flash and Print Head Deep Cleaning will start. Print Head Deep Cleaning will take about one minute. Do not perform other operations until Print Head Deep Cleaning is complete.
