Settings
The basic steps to access menus and setting items:
- Make sure that the machine is turned on.
- Press the Menu button repeatedly until Device settings appears.
- Use the button to select the desired setting, then press the OK button.
- Similarly, use the button and the OK button to select and change the options for the item selected .

- Prevent abrasion
Use this setting only if the print surface becomes smudged.
OFF/ON
Be sure to set this back to OFF after printing since it may result in lower printing speed or lower print quality. - Extended copy amt.
Selects the amount of image that extends off the paper when copying in Borderless (full). Slight cropping may occur at the edges since the copied image is enlarged to fill the whole page. You can change the width to be cropped from the borders of the original image as needed.Amount: Small / Amount: Large
Cropped area will be larger if Amount: Large is selected.
If printouts contain margins even though you are copying in Borderless, specifying Amount: Large for this setting may help solve the problem. - AutoPhotoFix setting
When ON is selected, you can print photos using the Exif information recorded in the image files. When you print photos using the Exif information, set the print settings to Default on the PictBridge compliant device, and select Auto photo fix ON for Auto photo fix in PictBridge settings
LAN settings
- WLAN active/inactive
Activates/deactivates wireless LAN. - Wireless LAN setup
Selects the setting method for wireless LAN connection.- Easy setup
Select when you perform settings for wireless LAN manually using the Operation Panel of the machine.
Note:
If you perform settings for wireless LAN from the computer, refer to your setup manual. - WPS
Select when you perform settings for wireless LAN using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). Select Push button method or PIN code method according to the method your access point supports, then follow the on-screen instructions. - WCN
Select when you perform settings for wireless LAN using Windows Connect Now (WCN) feature. You need a USB flash drive on which settings for wireless LAN are saved.

You can print out the network settings of the machine such as its IP address and SSID.
Important:
This print out contains valuable information about your computer. Handle it with care. - Other settings
- Set printer name
Specifies the printer name. You can use up to 15 characters for the name.
Note:
You cannot use the same printer name as that already used for other LAN connected devices.You cannot use a hyphen for the initial or last character of the printer name.
- IPv4/IPv6 setting
Selects the IP version (IPv4 or IPv6). It is recommended to use the machine with IPv4. - WSD setting
Activates/deactivates the WSD (one of the network protocols supported in Windows 7 and Windows Vista) setting.
Note:
When this setting is activated, the printer icon is displayed on the Network Explorer in Windows 7 and Windows Vista. - LLTD setting
Activates/deactivates the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) setting. When this setting is activated, Network Map for Windows 7 or Windows Vista is available. - Bonjour settings
Setting items for LAN using Bonjour for Macintosh.
Enab./disab. Bonjour
Selecting Active allows you to use Bonjour to perform the network settings.Enter service name
Specifies the Bonjour service name. You can use up to 48 characters for the name.
Note:
You cannot use the same service name as that already used for other LAN connected devices.
LPR serv. advertising
Selects whether to advertise the Line PRinter daemon protocol (LPR) service using Bonjour.
Note:
Select ON for this setting and Active for LPR setting to advertise the Line PRinter daemon protocol (LPR) service. - LPR setting
Activates/deactivates the LPR setting.

Initializes the network settings on the machine.
Important:
Note that initialization erases all connection settings with computers, and printing or scanning operation may become impossible. To use the machine over network, refer to your setup manual. Be careful when you initialize the network settings on the machine.
Device user settings
Date/time setting
Sets the current date and time.
Date display format
Sets the format of dates displayed on the LCD and printed on sent faxes.
Three date formats are available; YYYY/MM/DD, MM/DD/YYYY, and DD/MM/YYYY.
Summer time setting
Enables/disables the summer time setting. If you select ON, you can select additional sub-settings. This setting may not be available depending on the country or region of purchase.
Start date/time
Sets the date and time that summer time starts.
Set month: Specify the month.
Set week: Specify the week.
Set day of week: Specify the day of the week.
Set shift time: Specify the hour (24-hour clock).
End date/time
Sets the date and time that summer time ends.
Set month: Specify the month.
Set week: Specify the week.
Set day of week: Specify the day of the week.
Set shift time: Specify the hour (24-hour clock).
Audible tones
Selects the volume.
Keypad volume
Selects the beep volume when pressing the buttons on the Operation Panel.
OFF/Quiet/Standard/Loud
Alarm volume
Selects the alarm volume.
OFF/Quiet/Standard/Loud
Country select
Selects the country where you are using the machine.
Note- This setting may not be available depending on the country or region of purchase.

- Language selection
Changes the language for LCD messages and menus.

Enables this function on the machine if you want to reduce the operating noise, such as when printing at night.
OFF/ON
Enabling this function reduces the noises generated in the following cases:
Copying
Printing from a PictBridge compliant device
Printing from a wireless communication device
Sending/receiving the fax
Printing a template form
Important- Operating speed may be reduced compared to when this setting is set to OFF.
- This function may not be so effective depending on the machine's setting.
Furthermore, certain noise, such as when the machine is preparing for printing, is not reduced.
Note- The noises generated while scanning or printing from the computer can also be reduced. To reduce these noises, you need to configure the settings on the computer.
Key repeat
Enables/Disables continuous input by pressing and holding down the button when setting the number of copies, the zoom ratio, etc.
ON/OFF
Selecting ON is useful, since you do not have to press a button repeatedly.
Mobile phone settings
When printing from a mobile phone through Bluetooth communication, select the page size, media type, layout, and so on.
Note
Mobile phone settings is displayed only when the optional Bluetooth Unit is attached.
- Page size
Select the page size for printing photos saved on a mobile phone.
- Media type
Select the media type for printing photos saved on a mobile phone.
- Image optimizer
Select ON to correct and smooth out the jagged contours when printing.
- Layout
Select the layout of the photos according to the paper for printing.

Mixed 1, Mixed 2, or Mixed 3 can be selected only when the page size is set to A4 or 8.5"x11"(LTR).
Bluetooth settings
You can change the device name of the machine, passkey, and so on in the Bluetooth settings.
Note
Bluetooth settings is displayed only when the optional Bluetooth Unit is attached.
- Device name
Specifies the name of this machine that is displayed on a Bluetooth-compatible device.
For example, if you set it to XXX-2, the machine will be displayed as "Canon XXX-2" on the Bluetooth device. The default value is XXX-1 (where "XXX" is your machine's name).
- Access refusal
Selecting ON will disable searching of this machine by a Bluetooth-compatible device.
- Security settings
When you select Enable, the passkey set on the Passkey screen becomes effective. Setting the passkey prevents unwanted access from other Bluetooth devices. You can choose either of the security modes below.
Mode 3(recommended)
This mode is activated on link level enforced security.
The passkey will be required when a Bluetooth device communicates with the machine.
Normally select this mode.
Mode 2
This mode is activated on service level enforced security.
The passkey will be required when printing through Bluetooth communication.
After setting the security mode, we recommend making a trial print through Bluetooth communication.
If printing does not start, change the security mode and try again.
- Passkey
Changes the passkey. The passkey is a four-digit number used to prevent unwanted access from other Bluetooth devices.
The initial value is "0000".
After you change the passkey, you may be required to input the new passkey on a Bluetooth device, even though it had previous access to the machine. In this case, enter the new passkey on the device.
PictBridge settings
You can change the print settings when printing from a PictBridge compliant device.
Set the print settings to Default on the PictBridge compliant device when you want to print according to the settings on the machine
- Page size
Select the page size when printing directly from a PictBridge compliant device.
When you perform PictBridge settings from the machine, set Paper size to Default on the PictBridge compliant device.
- Media type
Select the media type when printing directly from a PictBridge compliant device.
When you perform PictBridge settings from the machine, set Paper type to Default on the PictBridge compliant device.
- Print quality
Select the print quality when printing directly from a PictBridge compliant device.
- Borderless print
Select bordered or borderless print.
When you perform PictBridge settings from the machine, set Layout to Default on the PictBridge compliant device.
- Auto photo fix
When Manual correction is selected, the setting items below can be specified.
Vivid
Makes green and blue more lively.
Photo optimizer
Automatically optimizes the brightness and tone of a photo.
Noise reduction
Reduces the noise on blue areas like the sky as well as on black areas.
Face brightener
Brightens a darkened face on a photo taken against the light.
Red-Eye corr.
Corrects red eyes in portraits caused by flash photography. This setting is also available when Auto photo fix ON is selected.
Depending on the type of the photo, red eyes may not be corrected or parts other than the eyes may be corrected.
Reset setting
Reverts all settings you made to the machine back to default. However, some data may not be changed, depending on the current usage state of your machine.
- Telephone no. data
Reverts the telephone number settings to default.
- Setting data
Reverts the machine settings other than the telephone number settings to default.
- All data
Reverts the telephone number and machine settings to default.
Note
You cannot change the following setting items back to the default:

The current position of the Print Head
