Description

There are two paper sources, a rear tray and a cassette. You can facilitate printing by selecting a paper source setting that matches your print conditions or purpose.

Solution

Change the Paper Source

From Quality & Media pop-up on the Print dialog box, the paper source can be set.

Paper Source

  1. Paper Feed Switch:
Paper is supplied from either the rear tray or the cassette. Select the source by using the paper feed switch on the machine.
Paper Feed Switch is the default setting for Paper Source.
  2. Rear Tray:
Select to feed paper from the rear tray regardless of the paper source specified with the machine's Feed Switch button.
  3. Cassette:
Select to feed paper from the cassette regardless of the paper source specified with the machine's Feed Switch button.
  4. Continuous Auto feed:
Paper is supplied from the paper source specified with the paper feed switch. When paper runs out in that paper source, the machine automatically switches the paper source.
When you are printing a large volume of data, load the same paper in paper sources. You can therefore reduce the trouble of having to load paper because the machine automatically switches the paper source when paper runs out in one paper source.

Note: Continuous Autofeed is unavailable when a media type other than Plain Paper, Photo Paper Pro, Glossy Photo Paper, Ink Jet Hagaki or Hagaki is selected for Media Type of Quality & Media on the pop-up menu in the Print dialog box
  5. Paper Allocation:
If the media type and paper size in the print data match the paper allocation settings, paper is supplied from the cassette. If not, paper is supplied from the rear tray.
To specify paper allocation settings, click 'Paper Allocation', specify the Media Type and Paper Size to be loaded in the cassette, and then click 'Apply'.
If you load frequently used paper, such as plain paper, in the cassette, paper is supplied from the rear tray when the print data uses a different type of paper. You can therefore reduce the trouble of having to load different paper.

NOTE: Paper Source setting might not be possible with some 'Media Type' settings.

Specifying paper in the cassette

  1. It is possible to specify the type/size of paper allocated in the cassette. If 'Paper Allocation' is selected as the Paper Source, the allocated paper will be fed automatically from the cassette. For example, if A4-sized plain paper has been allocated to the cassette, when A4-sized plain paper is selected as the paper size to be used in printing, paper will be fed automatically from the cassette. Use of the 'Feed Switch' button on the printer is not necessary. If the size and type of paper loaded in the cassette do not match the 'Paper Allocation' settings, paper will be fed from the rear tray.

  2. Perform the following procedures from Quality & Media pop-up on the Print dialog box.

  3. In the Paper Source pop-up menu, click 'Paper Allocation'.

  4. Configure the paper type and size in the Paper Allocation dialog box.

  5. Click 'Apply'.
