Using the Self-timer

With this function, images are shot 10 or 2 seconds after the shutter button is pressed. This is useful when you want to take a memorable photo with everyone including yourself in the picture. The self-timer can be used in any shooting mode. In addition, you can set the delay time and number of shots (Custom Timer) or with the Face Self-Timer, the camera will fire 2 seconds after a new face is detected in the image..

  1. Press the button and choose the desired self-timer setting using the <control dial> or the or buttons. These include Self-Timer and Face Self-Timer. See below for additional instructions for using the Face Self-Timer.

  2. Use the <Control Ring> to choose the time delay, and then press the or buttons to choose the number of shots and press the <FUNC./SET> button.

  3. Shoot the image.

  • When the shutter button is pressed fully, the self-timer will activate and the self-timer lamp will blink.
  • When [Delay] is set to 2 or more sec., the self-timer sound begins to beep 2 sec. before the shutter releases. When [Shots] is set to more than 1, the self-timer sound only beeps before the first shot.
The self-timer cannot be used on some shooting modes.

Using the Face Self Timer

  1. Press the button and select (Face Self Timer) using the or buttons.

  2. Set the number of shots using the menu after the Face Self Timer is selected.

-Then use the or buttons to set a value, when finished press the <FUNC./SET> button to confirm the setting and then press the <MENU> button to return to the shooting screen.
  3. Compose the image and press the shutter button halfway.

    - A green frame appears around the face of the main subject, while white frames appear around the other faces.
  4. Press the shutter button fully to shoot.
    - The camera prepares to shoot, and the "Look straight at camera to start count down" message appears.
    - The self-timer lamp will blink and self-timer sound will beep.
  5. Have the other subject enter the composition and face the camera.

-When the new face is detected (in most cases the shooter's face), the blinking of the self-timer lamp and the self-timer sound speed up, and the shutter releases approx. 2 seconds later.
    - When the number of shots is set to 2 or more, the pictures will continue to be taken at approximately 2-second intervals.
    - If the subject enters the composition but the camera does not detect the face, the shutter will release approx. 30 seconds later.
  • In Face Self-Timer the LCD must be on, if the LCD monitor if off, the Face Self-Timer will not be available.
  • The option cannot be set in the Stitch Assist or movie mode or in a My Colors mode.
  • The following may occur when the Shots category is set to 2 or more.
    - if the memory is full, the interval between shots may lengthen.
    - if the flash is firing, the interval between shots may lengthen to allow the flash to recharge.
