The original EOS C300 digital cine camcorder employed an innovative new 4 K UHD Super 35mm CMOS image sensor developed by Canon [1]. The readout system dissected that 4K sampling into four parallel HD components. The summation of the two green components reduced aliasing that, in turn, supported a higher Luma MTF [2].
In this focus mode, you can focus manuallymost of the way and let the camera finish focusing automatically. This is very convenient when you want to make certain that your clips shot at 4 K and higher are in sharp focus.Additionally, with this mode, if the camera cannot evaluate how to adjust the focus, it will not perform unreliable focus adjustments. This results in an overall smoother focusing operation than with continuous AF.
