Turn OFF the power switch, and disconnect the power plug from the power outlet when you remove or reinstall the rollers. Leaving the power turned ON may result in an electric shock.

ERROR: Device cannot be Locked.

Turn the computer back on. Scan the document. If after performing these steps, you are still receiving the same scanner cannot be locked message, follow these steps (make sure the USB cable is disconnected from the scanner and computer first ):

How to scan to CaptureOnTouch using the optional Flatbed Unit.

Turn the power on for the DR Scanner and the Flatbed Unit. NOTE: If this is the first time the Flatbed Unit is being powered on for your computer, you should see a Windows bubble pop-up stating the driver is being installed. Start the CaptureOnTouch program.

Order of Software Installation Be sure to install the scanner driver included on the Canon Setup DVD. For details on installing the scanner driver, refer to "Installing the Software" in the supplied Easy Start Guide. After installation, check to make sure that the version of the scanner driver included on the Setup DVD is properly installed.

Download and install the updated version of CaptureOnTouch.

This means that you have scrolled back 4 pages. You then scan a second 5 page document by clicking on "Continue Scanning" and thereby add this document to the file with the first 5 page document you just scanned. Upon completion of scanning the second 5 page document, you click on "Continue to Next Step" and the file is then saved to the path chosen.

Scanner is not recognized properly by Windows or imageFORMULA Utility.

Click the START button. The utility starts to investigate the WIA registry and determine if there is an inconsistency with the device IDs which makes the issue occur.
