have had quite a few recent reports of TWAIN/ISIS errors when scanning with our ICS products. CEI has asked us to perform specific tasks in order to help them determine the issue.
Cleaning of Printer and Scanner Products For cleaning and to help sanitize Canon PIXMA, MAXIFY, WG-Series and Finetech Printers as well as CanoScan Scanners, we recommend the following. You will need 70-80% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol and a soft lint-free cloth.
Restore the registry When the scanner is connected to a computer with a camera or a computer that had a USB camera connected to it, the scanner may be unrecognized because Windows has imported a device ID that is incompatible with the WIA registry. Use the "Restoration Tool for Scanner Registry" to restore the registry.
If you have verified that the cable is the one that came with the scanner and is functioning properly, it is possible that the Windows assigned USB ID has become corrupted and needs to be reset. To do this, please download (and run) the "Restoration Tool for Windows Registry" (located under the "Utilities" tab of "Drivers & Downloads" on the scanner product page). The function of this tool is to reassign the USB ID's to the correct scanners.
