Depending on how you plan to use your machine, you may need to connect an external device to it. For details on the different connection combinations, refer to the information below.
Solution
Telephone Line Cords
Check that the telephone line is connected correctly to the Telephone Line Jack and that the telephone (or another external device such as an answering machine or a computer modem) is connected correctly to the External Device Jack.
Connect the Telephone Line
- Connect a line cord from the telephone wall jack to the [L] jack on the device [A]. The [L] jack is the lower jack as indicated by the below illustration.

- Remove the Cap (B) (1), then connect a telephone, answering machine or computer modem with the telephone line cable (2) to the top jack.
