Description

Learn how to use the operation panel on your PIXMA MG2220 with a Windows computer to scan documents and photos.

Solution

You can forward scanned data to your computer from the printer's operation panel.

When you scan from the operation panel, the printer automatically detects the document size and type, then applies the correct resolution and settings.

You can only forward scanned data to your computer when the printer is connected to the computer via a USB cable.

About scans

The scanner automatically detects the type of the originals you place on the scanner glass, and sets the optimal size and resolution.

  • Load originals according to their type to be sure they scan properly.

  • You can scan the following:
    • Photos.

    • Postcards, business cards.

    • Magazines, newspapers.

    • Documents.

    • BD/DVD/CDs.

  • You can't scan the following:

    • A4 sized photos.

    • Documents smaller than 5 inches x 7 inches (127 mm x 178 mm) such as a paperback with its backbone cut off.

    • Originals on thin white paper.

    • Long and narrow originals such as panoramic photographs.

Before you begin

  • If the MP Drivers (printer / scanner software) isn't installed, insert the Setup CD into the computer's disc drive and install the software.

  • If you don't have the Setup CD, or if your computer doesn't have a CD or DVD-drive, you can download the software from our website.

  • Make sure that the machine is connected to the computer correctly.

Don't plug in or unplug the USB cable while the printer is busy, or when the computer is in the sleep or standby mode.

  • The destination and the file name are specified in Canon IJ Scan Utility.

Perform a scan

  1. Turn the printer ON.

  2. Load the original on the glass.

  3. Tap the Scan button.

  4. Scanning starts and the images are forwarded to the computer according to the settings specified in Canon IJ Scan Utility. Remove the original from the glass when the scan is complete.

If the position or size of an image is doesn't scan correctly, refer to Dialog Box to change the settings in Select Source and Paper Size of Canon IJ Scan Utility to match the original and scan again.
