Setting an Administrator Password
Change the administrator password by following the steps below.
The password is set at the time of purchase. The password is the printer serial number. The printer serial number is printed on the sticker attached on the printer. It consists of 9 alphanumeric characters (four letters followed by five numbers).
-
Display the printer status in a web browser.
-
Select Security.
The menus are displayed.
-
Select Administrator password setting.
-
Select Change administrator password.
If the administrator password is not set, you will be asked to confirm that you want to set the password. Select Yes.
-
Select Remote UI and other tools or Operation panel / Remote UI / other tools.
If you want to use user management, you must select Operation panel / Remote UI / other tools.
-
Enter current password and new password, and then select OK.
If the administrator password is not set, the Current password text box is not displayed.
The password must be between 4 and 32 characters.
For security reasons, we recommend you use eight or more alphanumeric characters.
-
When the completion message is displayed, select OK.
