Unable to scan to SMB on Windows 8.1/2012 with a send error #801 (imageCLASS)

Solution

When sending data using SMB to an SMB share, an error occurs and data cannot be sent although you are able to browse the folder. The device displays error code: #801 ("Check the Server"). The cause has been found to be an issue with Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2. The issue is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 2883200 and a fix is available in the November Roll up.
