How do I install the MultiPASS F20 software?

MultiPASS Suite 4.30 requires 'Client for Microsoft Networks' be installed on a Windows 98 or Millennium (Me) computer prior to installing the MultiPASS Suite.

See section "Client", if you need assistance installing or just want to check if 'Client for Microsoft Networks' is installed.

See section "Installation", if you know 'Client for Microsoft Networks' is already installed on your Windows 98 or Millennium (Me) computer or if you own a Windows XP or 2000 computer.


Client -
  1. On Windows desktop, click 'Start', point to 'Settings' and then click 'Control Panel'.

  2. In the Control Panel window, double-click Network.

  3. Click Configuration tab. On the Configuration tab, check whether 'Client for Microsoft Networks' is installed.

  4. If 'Client for Microsoft Networks' is not installed, click 'Add'.

  5. In the Select Network Component Type dialog box, click 'Client' and then click 'Add'.

  6. In the Select Network Client dialog box, click 'Microsoft' then 'Client for Microsoft Networks' and then click 'OK'.

  7. In the Network dialog box, click 'OK'.
  1. Now, restart your computer. After your computer has restarted, proceed to "Installation".

Installation -
Important: Do not connect the F20 to your computer until prompted. To install the software in Windows XP or Windows 2000, log onto the system as a member of the Administrator group.

  1. Confirm the USB cable is not connected to the MultiPASS or computer at this time.

  2. Verify the MultiPASS power cord is plugged in and the F20 is powered on. Press the <ON/OFF> button to turn on the unit. This button is located on the left corner of the control panel. When the MultiPASS is on, a display will appear.

  3. Turn on your computer.

  4. Close all applications prior to installing the software.

    Note: It is recommended to close all applications including virus protection programs.

  5. Insert the MultiPASS Suite CD-ROM into your CD drive. The Setup program should start automatically.
  1. If Setup does not start automatically, from the taskbar, click 'Start' and then 'Run'.

  2. In the 'Open' box of the Run window (where X: is your CD drive), type "X:\csplash.exe" and then click 'OK'.
  1. At the MultiPASS Setup window, click the 'Install MultiPASS Suite' button.

  2. Now follow the on-screen instructions clicking the appropriate button to move from one screen to the next.

  3. When prompted, remove the clear plastic label from the USB port on the MultiPASS and then connect the USB cable to your MultiPASS and computer.
  1. For Windows 98/Millennium (Me)/2000 users: when the cable is connected, the USB driver will automatically be installed.
  2. For Windows XP users: when the cable is connected, the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box appears. Click the radio button 'Install the software automatically' and then click 'Next'.
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

  2. When installation is complete, restart your computer before using the MultiPASS Suite software. After the software is installed, the MultiPASS Toolbar will display on the computer's desktop.

  3. When the MultiPASS Suite installation is complete, continue with the software installation by clicking 'Install Easy-PhotoPrint' button and follow the on-screen instructions to install Easy-PhotoPrint.

  4. Complete installation by clicking 'Install ScanSoft OmniPage SE' button.
