EF200mm f/1.8L USM : How to use the Focus Preset Function.

Solution

Focus Preset Function

Memorizing a certain focusing point enables the lens to return to that point at once while focusing other points.

  1. Slide the signal selector to the mark
  2. Focus the desired point to be memorized and take your finger off the shutter button
  3. Slide the focus preset switch to "SET" (the electronic beeper tone sounds upon memory)
  4. To read out the memorized focusing distance, rotate the reading ring to the right or left. The focusing ring will return to the memorized position with the beeper tone.

  5. While holding the reading ring, press the shutter button completely to take the picture.
  • To turn off the beeper tone, slide th signal selector to the left
  • When using the focus preset function in the ONE SHOT AF mode, be sure to remove your finger from the shutter button before you rotate the reading ring, otherwise the exposure may be incorrect (exposure locks when the shutter button is pressed halfway).
  • Slide the focus preset switch to OFF when focus preset is not in use.
  • This function can also be used with manual focusing.
