Description

Learn the various methods you can use to connect PIXMA MX892 to a wireless network (LAN).

Solution

There are several ways to set up your printer wirelessly. Choose one of the methods below, then click on the link for detailed instructions.

During software installation, you will be asked to set up a wireless network (LAN) connection from your printer's operation panel. You can do this using the WPS® (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) method (see details below).

Set up methods covered below are:

  • WPS push button setup method

  • Standard setup method

  • WCN method (use a USB flash or thumb drive)

  • Advanced setup method

Before you begin

For each setup method, the following items are required:

WPS push button setup method

When your printer is set to wireless LAN mode and the Wi-Fi® light comes on, the printer automatically searches for a wireless connection (router).

If your router is WPS enabled (it will have a WPS button on the side), choose an article below for detailed installation instructions.

  • WPS wireless setup - Windows

  • WPS method - Macintosh

Standard setup method

If your router or printer isn't WPS enabled, you can use the standard setup method.

For this method, you'll need to know your access point's name (network name or SSID) and the WEP key (encryption key) or passphrase (phrase used in WPA encryption).

Choose an article below for detailed installation instructions.

WCN method (use a USB flash or thumb drive)

A wireless connection can also be set up by using the WCN (Windows Connect Now) function of Windows 7 or Windows Vista together with a USB flash / thumb drive.

Advanced setup method

For the advanced setup method, you can manually enter your access point's name (network name or SSID) and the WEP key (encryption key) or passphrase (phrase used in WPA encryption).

Choose an article below for detailed installation instructions.

Set up additional computers
