When a paper jam occurs, a message appears in the Printer Status Window.

If a paper jam occurs when printing coarse paper Set [Paper Type] in the [Paper Source] sheet in the printer driver to [Rough Paper 1] (16.0 to 23.9 lb Bond (60 to 90 g/m²)) or [Rough Paper 2] (24.0 lb Bond to 60.3 lb Cover (91 to 163 g/m²)). |
Procedure for Clearing Paper Jams
Be sure to perform the following procedure to remove the jammed paper.
1. Close the auxiliary tray.
2. Holding the opening (A) on the left side, open the top cover.
| Do not pull out the jammed paper forcefully even if you can see it but remove it following the described procedure. |
3. Remove the toner cartridge.
Immediately place the removed toner cartridge into the original protective bag or wrap it with a thick cloth.
4. While pressing the green button (A), pull out and open the paper output guide toward you.
5. Remove the jammed paper.
| Make sure that jammed paper does not remain inside the paper output guide. |
6. Raise the paper output guide to close it firmly. Close it by pressing the sides firmly.
7. Remove any jammed paper.
If the paper is jammed inside the printer
(1) | Hold ends of the paper, and then pull it out downward slowly. |
(2) | Remove the paper by pulling it gently. |
If the paper is jammed in the manual feed tray Remove the paper by pulling it gently.
If the paper is jammed in the multi-purpose tray
(1) | Fold up the tray cover. |
(2) | Remove the paper by pulling it gently. |
If the paper is jammed during 2-sided printing
(1) | Open the rear cover. |
(2) | Remove the paper by pulling it gently. |
8. Install the toner cartridge.
Push the toner cartridge into the printer firmly until it touches the back of the printer while aligning (A) on sides of the toner cartridge with the toner cartridge guides inside the printer.
9. Close the top cover.
? | The message which indicates a paper jam disappears, and the printer is ready to print. |
If you cannot close the top cover Make sure that the toner cartridge is installed in the printer properly. Do not try to forcefully close the top cover, as this may damage the printer. |
