Printing Photographs from a Bluetooth Communication Device

If you have a mobile phone or a PDA with Bluetooth port for wireless data transmission, you can print photos through wireless connection with the printer if the optional Bluetooth unit BU-20 is connected.

Note: Printing via Bluetooth using a computer is not supported. Mobile phones supporting OPP (Object Push Profile) or BIP (Basic Image Profile) can print photos. For information on the profiles your mobile phone supports, refer to your product's instruction manual.

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Load paper.

  3. Insert the Bluetooth Unit BU-20 into the Direct Print Port.

  4. Display the Wireless print settings screen.

    (1)
Select 'Settings' on the HOME screen, then press the <OK> button.

    (2)
Select 'Device settings', then press the <OK> button.

    (3) Select 'Wireless print settings', then press the <<OK>> button. The Wireless print settings screen is displayed.

  5. Confirm or change the settings.

    (1)
Select the item to set, then press the <OK> button.

    (2)
Change the setting, then press the <OK> button.

    (3)
After finishing all settings you need, select <OK> and then press the <OK> button.

The photo in the mobile phone or PDA can be printed according to the following settings:

    (1) Select the page size for printing photos saved on a mobile phone or PDA.

    (2)
Select the media type for printing photos saved on a mobile phone or PDA.

    (3)
Select 'Image optimizer ON' to correct and smooth out the jagged contours when printing.

    (4)
Select the layout of the photos as below.

    Sticker print:
    Stickers x 16

Printing on paper other than sticker:
    Bordered x 1, x 2, x 4, x 8 / Borderless x 1, x 2, x 4, x 8

  6. Start printing from a mobile phone. For the device name, select the default value 'Canon XXX-1' (where "XXX" is your printer's name). If you are required to enter the passkey, enter the default value "0000."

Restrictions on data that can be printed via Bluetooth:

  • Due to security settings on the mobile phone or PDA, downloaded content or photos downloaded from an URL attached to an E-mail cannot be printed.
  • Video files cannot be printed.
  • Depending on the size of a photo, it may take a while for this printer to start printing after starting infrared communication.
  • Depending on your device, data saved on a memory card may not be printed.
  • Printed quality and orientation (portrait or landscape) is determined automatically according to the shot photo size.
  • Depending on the photo size shot on the mobile phone, the edges of the image may be cut off when performing borderless printing; the margin size may change when printing with borders.
  • If the photo file is over 1.8 MB in size, it may not be possible to send the file.
