Description

By default, the date is added to the file name of any image saved in Scan Utility. This article will show you how to prevent that from happening.

Solution

Although the screenshots in this article were taken from the Windows version of IJ Scan Utility, this article applies to both the Windows and macOS® versions of Scan Utility (and Scan Utility Lite on macOS).

By default, the date is added to the file name of any image saved in Scan Utility. If you do not want the date to appear in the file name after scanning, follow the steps below.

  1. From the IJ Scan Utility main window, click Settings....

  2. Click on the appropriate scan option on the left of the Settings window (Document Scan, Auto Scan, etc.).

  3. Place a check in the box for Save to a subfolder with current date.

Place a check in the box for "Save to a subfolder with current date" (outlined in red)

  4. Repeat this process for each scan option. Then, click OK.

When you scan after this option has been enabled, your image(s) will be saved into a subfolder in the location you specified in Save Settings. Inside the subfolder, you will find your image(s) without the date in the file name.

If you have Check scan results and specify save settings enabled in the settings of IJ Scan Utility, you can choose whether or not to save images to a subfolder with the current date before saving.

With Save to a subfolder with current date enabled:

File name does not have a date

With Save to a subfolder with current date not enabled:

File name has a date
