Description

Scanning can be performed at a higher speed if you use the power supply USB cable or an AC adapter (sold separately).

Solution

Since this scanner is bus-powered, scanning can be performed with a single USB cable. However, scanning can be performed at a higher speed if you use the power supply USB cable or an AC adapter (sold separately) - Part#: 6144B005AA.
Connect the power supply USB cable or AC adapter (sold separately) to the power connector at the rear of the scanner.

When connected to a USB port that supports USB 3.0, the scanner operates on 900 mA bus power and is capable of high-speed scanning. Using the power supply cable in such cases will not increase the scanning speed.
Although this scanner supports USB 3.0 bus power, USB data transfer rates remain at USB 2.0 speeds.

Note: The optional AC Power adapter is available from the Canon eStore or your dealer/reseller.
