You can connect your printer to a wireless router by using a USB cable.

Wireless Setup - Windows Computers - TR7020

To be able to use the printer to print or scan wirelessly on a Windows computer, the printer must first be connected to the wireless network. Then, drivers and applications will need to be installed on the computer.

The instructions / screenshots below show an alternative setup method whereby a USB cable is connected temporarily to the printer and computer to set up the wireless connection.

Get the Setup File

Read the information carefully taking note how to run the setup file if setup does not start automatically. Then click the "Download" button.

  1. Select Start Setup.

  2. Read the network security notice and click Next.

  3. Read the license agreement. Select Yes to proceed.  If you click No, the installation will not proceed.

  4. Select Agree or Do Not Agree to the information request.

  5. This message appears if you selected Do not agree. Click OK to proceed.

  6. After processing for a few moments and then checking the printer's status, select Wi-Fi Connection and then click Next..

  7. With the printer powered on, click Next.

  8. The installer will search for the printer on the network.

    On the Connecting Printer to Network screen, click Next.

  9. On the Preparing Printer screen, click Next. Don't press the button on the printer as instructed on this screen.

  10. Click Alternative Methods.

  11. Select Set up Wi-Fi connection using a USB cable, then click Next.

  12. Connect the printer and computer using a USB cable.

  13. The installer will process for a few moments.

    When this screen appears, disconnect the USB cable, then click Next.

     If your printer is not detected, you may need to temporarily disable any firewall software, or you may need to open blocked ports in the firewall. If your PC is connected to a VPN (Virtual Private Network), temporarily disconnect from the VPN and try the setup again.

  14. The MP Drivers will be downloaded and installed. This may take several minutes.

    After the drivers have been installed and the installer processes for a while, the setup will be complete. Click Next.

    You can now print from the computer. Click Next (outlined in red) to proceed

  15. After the installer processes for a few moments, click Continue online to open a web browser, which will take you to the Canon website to download additional software for your printer.
