Enter Read/Write Mode using Memory Card Utility (Windows)

Instructions to change the Read/Write Mode of the Memory Card using the Memory Card Utility.  By changing the setting to Read/Write mode, the card can be made accessible to read and write data, acting as an extra external storage drive.

Note:  The printer will only print data from the Memory Card when in the Read only mode.

Changing Modes

  1. Confirm that the memory card is not inserted. If set, remove the memory card from the card slot. 

  2. Select 'Program' from the Start menu

  3. Select 'Canon Utilities'

  4. Select 'Memory Card utility'

  5. Select 'USB Memory Card Settings'.




    Note:  Click here to proceed to instructions for changing the Memory Card to Read Mode or continue to step 6 to set card to Read/Write mode.

  6. When the  the Welcome to USB Memory Card Settings dialog box appears, click 'Next'.



  7. In the Read/write attribute setting section, select 'Read/write mode' and click 'Next'.



  8. When the Precautions when writing is enabled dialog is displayed, read the warning and click 'Next' to continue or 'Cancel' to abort changes..



  9. When the Card setting is completed dialog is displayed, click 'Finish'.



  10. The Read/write mode is selected.

How to change to Read Mode

  1. When the Welcome to USB Memory Card Settings dialog box appears, click 'Next'.



  2. In the Read/write attribute setting section, select 'Read only' mode.



  3. When the Card slot setting is completed dialog is displayed, click 'Finish'



  4.  The Read mode is selected.
