Follow these steps to send a document Overseas (from the U.S.).


You cannot insert a pause after the last number you entered for manual sending.

  1. Place the document on the platen glass or load it in the ADF, then press <FAX>.


  2. Adjust any necessary settings for your document.
    • Press <Image Quality> to select the fax resolution.
    • Press <Exposure> to select the scan density.


  3. Using the numeric keys, enter "011".
    For additional details on international access codes (or codes other than the U.S.) contact your local telephone company.


    If you enter a wrong number, press <> or <Clear> to delete the last digit. Or press and hold <> or <Clear> to delete all the digits you entered.


  4. If necessary, press <Redial/Pause> to enter a two-second pause (P).


    For a longer pause, press <Pause> again for another two-second pause. Alternatively, you can change the length of the pause.


  5. Use the numeric keys to dial the country code, the area code, and the fax/telephone number of the other party.
    For additional details on international codes, contact your local telephone company.

    • If you enter a wrong number, press <Stop/Reset>, then start again from step 3.
    • If you make a mistake, press <> or <Clear> to delete the last digit. Or press and hold <> or <Clear> to delete all the digits you entered.


  6. Press <B&W Start>.

    • To cancel sending after dialing has started, press <Stop/Reset>, then follow the instructions in the LCD.
    • To take advantage of the speed dialing features of the machine, register frequently used overseas numbers for one-touch or coded speed dialing.
