Setting the HD recording standard with the VIXIA HV30

Solution

Setting the HD recording standard with the VIXIA HV30

  1. Press the <FUNC.> button.
  2. Using the joystick () select the < MENU> icon and press <SET> to display the menu options.
  3. Using the joystick () select the [REC/IN SETUP] menu and press <SET>.
  4. Select the [HD STANDARD] option and press <SET>.
[HDV], [HDV30], [HDV24], [DV (WIDE)], [DV (NORMAL)]

[HDV]: High-definition video at 1080i specifications with 16:9 aspect ratio.

[HDV(PF30)]: High-definition video at 1080i specifications for recording with a progressive frame rate of 30 fps. You can use this setting to easily edit your recordings, for example, to post them on the Web.

[HDV(PF24)]: High-definition video at 1080i specifications for recording with a progressive frame rate of 24 fps.

When combined with the [CINE MODE] recording program to get the 24p Cinema Mode, the cinematic look will be enhanced.

[DV(WIDE)]: Standard-definition video with 16:9 aspect ratio.

[DV(NORMAL)]: Standard-definition video with 4:3 aspect ratio.

  • We recommend not mixing recordings made in different video standards on the same tape.
  • During the playback of a recording made in [HDV(PF30)] or [HDV(PF24)], HDV will appear on the screen (not HDV30 or HDV24).
